May 2017 Newsletter Vol. 2 Issue 9

Chairlady's Note

大家好嗎! Hello Everyone!

I may have your name as a nominee for our board next year! Who-me!? Yes-You! People have been chatting you up! Soon someone will be sending you an invitation to join our board for 2017-2018!

DON'T WORRY! You can nominate yourself, too! It could be that perhaps your fellow member/friends felt shy about nominating you! Or maybe they simply don't know that you are ready to try something new. Volunteering can be a bit out of our comfort zones, which means this is just the opportunity to stretch and grow. Just shoot me an email, and I will include you in our list of nominees!

Here is what you need to know:

  • You have fresh ideas to make IWAT improve!

  • You have the energy and enthusiasm to help guide and direct our organization!

There is no escaping the love of your fellow members who hope you can take us in amazing directions!

(All volunteer positions include training and support.)

Email iwatpresident@gmail.com to find out more details.

We will also need a nominations committee for our September Luncheon to coordinate our election.

Possible opportunities on the board or for volunteering include the following:

  1. Website/Blog Master

  2. Events Coordinator

  3. Membership Coordinator

  4. Luncheon Coordinator

  5. Coffee Morning Coordinator

  6. Tours/Workshops Coordinator

  8. Secretary- (chosen by the board after election)

  9. Treasurer- (chosen by the board after election)

  10. Chairlady- (chosen by the board after election)

With much love AND hope for a great next year,

May Book Club Selection:

2017 May: Snow Flower and the Secret Fan

by Lisa See

In nineteenth-century China, in a remote Hunan county, a girl named Lily, at the tender age of seven, is paired with a laotong, “old same,” in an emotional match that will last a lifetime. The laotong, Snow Flower, introduces herself by sending Lily a silk fan on which she’s painted a poem in nu shu, a unique language that Chinese women created in order to communicate in secret, away from the influence of men.

Yoga

Did you know that Tuesdays and Thursdays are IWAT yoga days? Lisa teaches us new poses on a donation basis, and then she gives half to IWAT for charity! Let us know if you want to join!
