A Word from our President

Hello everyone,

I had mixed feelings during the Chinese New Year holidays. It was not a very peaceful February. While people were busy preparing and celebrating for Chinese Lunar New Year, several earthquakes shook Taiwan. These earthquakes struck everyone living on this beautiful, yet fragile island. No matter if we were local Taiwanese, expatriates, or visitors, we had to experience these strikes “together!" The largest earthquake in Hualien caused many people to lose love ones and homes.

But love flowed during these difficult times. Strong voices came from IWAT members; they wanted to do whatever we could to donate and help the people affected by this natural disaster. Therefore, the IWAT board was able to take immediate action to send a donation to Hualien Earthquake Relief Fund. I was very touched by our members' love, concern, and support while our island was suffering. It makes me feel so proud to be part of IWAT who shows her great love to people who live in this country. We all hope everything can recover soon, and people can get a great start for the new year.

In order to let IWAT continue serving the need of this community, our major fundraising event will be held on April 21st - Spring Fling Gala: La La Land in Taichung. We will need your support by promotion, donation, and participation.

We are also establishing IWAT activity subgroups according to the recent survey of IWAT members. The IWAT board will continue to do our best to serve our members. Thank you all for your understanding and support of IWAT. Enjoy the great comfortable weather, and I hope we can take a very long break from the earthquakes... God bless Taiwan.
